by Lisa Stone
Overview
I bought the kindle edition for £0.99 and the audiobook version for £3.47.
I was completely shocked by where this story went. Author Lisa Stone certainly has a dark mind. This book is probably one of the only books that my male partner would be interested in that I have read this year. Now, he didn’t actually read it, but it had elements that were unique compared to the typical psychological thrillers I read and was certainly more sinister.
Although it did not get into depth about cryogenics, I welcomed the reference to it and the part it played in the story.
Story
The story revolves around for the most part, Emily and her neighbors Dr Burman and Alisha. Emily and her husband Ben are pretty normal people and like to be social. Emily has just taken time off work because she has just had a child and tries to befriend her neighbour Alisha.
Unfortunately Alisha doesn’t seem to want to be friends with Emily and doesn’t even seem to ever leave the house or answer the phone.
Emily though, continues to try to become friends with Alisha, even though Alisha seems to not be interested. A few weeks later, Emily goes missing, only a note was left behind telling Ben that she left him for another man.
Audiobook
The audio book was narrated by Helen Keeley and Helen did a great job. The total narration time was 9 hours and 18 minutes. I particularly liked the narrator’s voice for the doctor and felt that it was a 4 star performance all around.
